about christy miles
I've known that I wanted to be a writer since I was five years old. I wrote my first short story at age seven, "The Murder in the Forest," starring Timmy the chipmunk as the protagonist in an evil murder-for-hire plot by a pack of thieving monkeys. By the time I was nine, I knew that I wanted to write things that made people think. And so my journey began.

After earning a BA in Professional Writing from Purdue University, I worked for a variety of marketing agencies and corporations, where I developed branding initiatives, copy and concepts for clients as varied as Aramark, Discover Card, Old Milwaukee, Ertl Toys, RadioShack, Diners Club and HSBC. I went back to school to earn an MFA in Creative Writing from Columbia College Chicago, had two kids and helped launch and manage a family-owned fire alarm contracting business while managing my marketing consulting business.
Soon I began facilitating writing workshops for businesses and community groups and teaching writing classes as an adjust instructor at local colleges. I had the pleasure of working with senior citizens in nursing homes, kids, beginning and seasoned writers looking to learn more about writing, as well as business professionals seeking to improve their communication skills. Many people sought me out after class to ask me for guidance and support in their creative pursuits. I realized that, not only did I enjoy helping others explore their creativity, but people were hungry for creativity: how to get it, incorporate it into their lives and use it to achieve specific goals.
That's when it clicked: creativity coaching. After years of studying creativity for my own career, it was time to give back to the 'religion of creativity' as creativity coach Eric Maisel calls it. Time to share what I've learned and help others as they embark on their own creative journeys. And so my journey continues, too.
